Trigger: Use when "website structure", "plan a website", "sitemap", "site architecture", "website blueprint". Run BEFORE writing pages — this is the architectural blueprint.
Input
- text (required): Business description, URL, or context about the website. Can include business type, products/services, target audience, or an existing URL to restructure.
Phase 1: Business Analysis
- Business type: E-commerce, Blog, Portfolio, SaaS, Local Service, Corporate, or hybrid?
- Target audience: Primary needs, secondary audiences, user journey expectations
- Competitive landscape: Top 3-5 competitors, their structure, content themes, gaps
- Core content inventory: Key products, services, or topics by business impact
Phase 2: URL Strategy
Principles:
- URLs must include the primary keyword for that page
- No keyword cannibalization — each URL owns a unique intent
- Hierarchy:
/services/before/services/roofing/before/services/roofing/commercial/ - Local pages:
/{city}/or/{city}-{service}/pattern
Required URL types:
- Homepage:
/ - About:
/about/ - Contact:
/contact/ - Services hub:
/services/ - Individual services:
/services/{service-name}/ - Service areas (local):
/{city}/or/service-areas/{city}/ - Blog:
/blog/
Phase 3: Content Architecture Output
Produce a table with these columns for every planned page:
| # | URL | Page Title | Primary Keyword | Intent | Priority | Parent | |---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Priority scale: P1 = must have at launch, P2 = within 90 days, P3 = growth phase.
Phase 4: Internal Linking Plan
- Hub-and-spoke model: service hub links to all individual service pages
- Each service page links back to hub and to 2-3 related services
- Blog posts link to the most relevant service page
- Contact/CTA page linked from every service page footer
Phase 5: Content Gap Analysis
Compare planned structure against top 3 competitors:
- Pages they have that this plan is missing
- Keywords they rank for that no planned page targets
- Content types they produce that this plan doesn't address
